MTN SWAMA Awards nominees’ party June 3

FOLLOWING the closing of the nomination period of the MT NS WA MA Music Awards on Sunday, successful nominees are scheduled to be officially unveiled on June 3 at a nominees’ party at avenue to be announced.

This was revealed by the Chairman of the MTN SWAMA Awards organising committee Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini who said the vetting process for all nominations received is already underway.

“Our judges have begun the vetting process. The process includes evaluating and categorising all nominations that were received during the nomination period which ended on Sunday,” said Dlamini.

He said the judges, who are all professionals in the art and media sector, will then select up to five nominees in each of the 17 voted categories.

“Our judges are people of integrity, and we trust that they will finish the exercise in the shortest possible time in order to prepare for the nominees’ party slated for June 3,” said Dlamini.

Interestingly, Dlamini and part of the organising committee last week attended the SAMA 23 Nominees’ Launch Party, where they took a leaf from the processes and procedures leading to a professional awards show.

Dlamini said a professional accounting firm has been brought on board in order to verify the judging criteria; hence artists and fans should have confidence in the awards.

“We want to deliver an awards show that will be remembered for years to come, hence we are leaving nostone unturned in ensuring our professionalism and integrity. Arts, and music in particular, is a very sensitive sector, hence the need to ensure due processes are followed with diligence,” said Dlamini. The inaugural MTN SWAMA MAs’ big night is tentatively scheduled for August 5, at the Royal Swazi Convention Centre, and will be covered live by local and regional media. The event is sponsored by Swazi MTN, a proudly Swazi cellular network company, to a total value of E474 000.This sponsorship has been described as the biggest ever in the history of awards shows in the country.
