SENSATIONAL gospel child star Nonhle Mthethwa has joined the hot contest for recognition in the forthcoming MTN SWAMA Music Awards, which were launched last month at a colourful event that was graced by the Prime Minister, Dr Sibusiso Dlamini.

The gospel star, who rose to fame five years ago following  the release of her debut album, debuted her campaign for nomination this past weekend through a colourful digital banner that was posted on various social media platforms.

Among the categories she is vying for, ‘Best Gospel Artist’ is one of them – making it one of the most contested in the current nomination exercise. Some gospel artists who are expected to contend for the same include Mduduzi ‘Magawugawu’ Simelane, Apostle Vusumuzi Maculuve, and P1.7 among others.

“We are delighted to see that artists across the board are taking these awards seriously and with great enthusiasm, as they are aware on what is at stake.

We hope fans will respond to calls for nomination by their respective stars, and double the effort when the voting period opens,” said Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini, Chairman of the MTN SWAMA Music Awards organising committee.

Dlamini stated that the voting period will open soon after successful nominees are unveiled after April 30; the closing date for nominations.
